The Idea and How We Brought It to Life
Lori, my six-year-old nephew, often dreams about space. One day he wants to be an astronaut, discover planets and learn everything about the universe. And wherever he goes his purring friend is right by his side: Blacky — a perfectly black, green-eyed, endlessly friendly and charming cat. Blacky isn’t just any cat: he’s the family favourite. During the day he soaks up cuddles and playtime with the kids; at night he guards Lori’s sleep with an enchanting gaze. When I decided to write him a story I knew exactly what it had to be about: a space adventure where Lori and Blacky could be brave explorers.
After sketching out the idea I uploaded exactly eight high-quality photos of Lori to the Storique web app. The most important rule: each photo shows only him, and his face is clearly visible. That guarantees the illustrations really look like him and keeps the story extra personal. For Blacky I simply described his features: completely black fur, green eyes, friendly and cute. A few clicks later, and just a couple of hours after that, the illustrated book was ready!
The result blew me away. In Stardust and the Starship Lori and Blacky embark on a magical tour of the Solar System. With a pinch of stardust they blast off in a spaceship and visit every planet. But it’s more than a thrill ride — it’s an educational journey too. As they fly past each world, Blacky, the mysterious and wise cat, explains the wonders of space: why Mars is red, how Saturn’s rings formed, why Neptune is such a deep blue. With every discovery Lori grows more curious and more courageous.
The best part? I could edit the book freely. I just wrote precisely what illustration I wanted, and my custom AI model generated brand-new images for the pages. I rearranged the order of the spreads and even asked the AI assistant to generate fresh text when I felt like it. I genuinely felt like an author during the whole creation process.
Lori's mother tongue is Hungarian, so I choose his book to be written in this language. Storique is available in more than 100 languages.
Lori and Blacky’s story became not just a magical adventure but a very special book he’ll happily page through years from now — reminding him that his dreams have no limits and imagination always unlocks new worlds.
